Welcome to GoFigure, a chance to compete for fun and renown while stocking up Rhetoricon, a database of rhetorical figures.
Rhetorical figures are ancient patterns in language, like rhymes and similes and bunches more with weird old names. We now know (thanks Cognitive Neuroscience!) that these patterns tickle our brains in certain ways. We remember expressions like "all for one and one for all" because our heads are wired up specially for them. Cooler yet, these patterns bundle up their own little meanings wherever they go, even in scientific articles and twitter feeds.
